Welcome!Human rights are for all people, everywhere, and under all circumstances. No exceptions.
That is what Carrboro and Chapel Hill promised when they signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2010. The Human Rights Center is a community center located in Carrboro, North Carolina. Students and community members work together in support of human rights and connect theory to practice through service learning and intercultural exchanges. We take on many projects: activities for youth, workshops for the community, and providing a safe space for learning and sharing. With support from the Strowd Roses Foundation, the HRC has launched "an online workers' center." for day laborers -- www.workandjobs.org |
Refugee Community Partnership
The RCP is a branch of the Human Rights Center which focuses on meeting the needs of local community members who have come to the United States as refugees. If you would like to learn more about the RCP or get involved, visit this website. Also, a list of refugee assistance organizations in Orange County can be found here, with an accompanying Karen translation. |
You can be part of the great programs the HRC has to offer!
