At the Human Rights Center, students and community members work together in support of human rights and connect theory to practice through service learning and intercultural exchanges.
We hope everyone had a relaxing summer, and we are so looking forward to another great year at the HRC and El Centro Hispano. Check out our September newsletter here to see how we've kicked off the new school year.
Also... here are a few brief updates on some of our programs!
Afterschool Tutoring: The Afterschool Program has started up again! We have had many new and excited volunteers join us in this new semester, as well as many returning volunteers who are equally excited. We are so excited to kick off another fun-filled year and encourage anyone and everyone to come out and join us on Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00-5:00. Come learn with us!
LINC ESL: The Human Rights Center’s adult ESL classes are back with LINC! LINC, which stands for “Linking Immigrants Into New Communities”, is off to a great start assisting new and former students with their English-learning needs. Their mission remains the same: to help immigrants integrate into the community, especially by helping them with their English, but also with whatever else they may need. Co-chair Helena Molina says they have managed to gain new resources including workbooks for the students and that LINC is off to a great start this school year.
